Asscher diamond cut

Asscher shape

A not so common but very beautifully unique shape and nearly identical to the emerald-cut, except that it is square. Also, this shape has a pavilion that is cut with rectangular facets in the same style as the emerald-cut.  When choosing SI-clarity be sure to view the clarity plot on the diamond certificate, because this shape highlights the clarity of the diamond. When choosing a colour grade, consider that while the price of a J-colour non-round diamond is exceptional, colour may be slightly visible in its corners.
Asscher-Cut Width to Height Ratio
Do you remember when I started talking about the 4 C's? the first what's color now we go with cut and here are some tips:

Diamonds cut is undeniably ther most important of the 4 C's. Even with the close to perfect colour, size and clarity. If a diamonds cut is not correct in proportions  all other characteristics will not be as highly valued. The way in which a diamond is cut will determine how the diamond reflects light and hence determine its brilliance and sparkle. A poorly cut diamond will appear lifeless and dull.

From the diamond authority here's a gorgeous diamond asscher shape ring:

but can I tell you a secret? I am not a big fan and I couldn't even find an interesting ring that will make me want to be post. Only this one above...

And for now cheers from the land of down under xxx

Star ruby gemstone

Since I thought it was getting a little bit boring posting about diamonds continuously I thought I squeeze in a few different post about gemstones and also give you a little info about it.
This time is for the star ruby a rare to find gemstone that it has captured me recently so I incorporated to my new collection which you can se the model down here:

Star Rubies are beautiful gemstones that reflect a six-ray star that appears across the surface of the gem when the light reflects and also moves according to the light direction. This six-ray star is caused due to an optical phenomena known as "Asterism". The term "Asterism" is derived from the Greek word "aster", which means star, so asterism is commonly referred to as "star" or "star-effect". The asterism is a star-shaped light effect across the surface of gems. Other popular gemstones that display asterism are Star Sapphire, Star Rose Quartz, Star Garnet, Star Diopside, Star Moonstone, Star Spinel and Star Opal.  I also made a ring in star sapphire and it's lovely and enchanting.
How to know the price of a star ruby?
The value of Star rubies is basically influenced by two things:
  • Strength and sharpness of the star
  • Intensity and attractiveness of body colour

Here are other artist great star gemstone rings and If  you are interested in one of my collection contact me at: info@larissalandinez.com I also make custom made request and worldwide delivery and receive 20% off.

EMERALD CUT diamonds

Emerald Cut

An interesting shape that made it number  3 on my list as you know I love square and rectangle shapes and what makes this shape diverse is its pavilion, which is cut with rectangular facets to create a unique optical appearance. Due to its larger, open table, this shape highlights the clarity of a diamond. If you choose an emerald-cut with a lower clarity grade, such as SI, be sure to review the clarity plot on the diamond certificate. Also, emerald-cut diamonds can vary greatly in how rectangular they are. If you'd prefer an emerald cut with a squared outline, look for an Asscher-cut diamond. To find the shape of emerald you want, look for the length-to-width ratio.

And to finish with here's a very particular ring from designer Jessica Fields available here:

Diamond shapes part II

Princess cut DIAMOND

Oh my! the princess cut. I had a crush on it as I am a square shape lover but then find in out about the superior shine from the round made it second on my list.

A popular non-round diamond. Its beautiful brilliance and unique cut makes it a favourite for engagement rings. The princess has pointed corners and is traditionally square in shape. When choosing a colour grade, consider that while the price of a J-colour non-round diamond is exceptional, colour may be slightly visible in its corners. Also, princess-cut diamonds can vary greatly in how square or rectangular they are. To find the dimension of princess you want, look for the length-to-width ratio in our interactive diamond search and on each diamond's detail page. This will determine what the diamond will look like when viewing it from above. Here are length-to-width ratios for princess-cut diamond shapes that are pleasing to the eye.

Diamond Shapes

The diamond world it's very fascinating and tricky at the same time so I decided to give you a little bit of diamond education through out this month.

We start with the Round shape

The round brilliant cut diamond is by far the most popular and most researched diamond shape available today since gives the best top shine. For almost 100 years, diamond cutters have been using advanced theories of light behaviour and precise mathematical calculations to optimise the fire and brilliance in a round diamond. In addition to being the most popular and researched shape, a round diamond will typically give you more flexibility in terms of balancing cut, colour, and clarity grades while still getting the fire and brilliance you want.

And to finish a little tip the 4 C's

  • Color
  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Carat weight
For now let's talk about the colour

According to the GIA colour grading scale there are also 4 types:

  • colourless
  • near colourless
  • faint yellow
  • very light yellow
  • light yellow

Now start wondering what kind is yours?

Here is my favourite engagement ring from my collection and the diamonds are round shape. The quality is decided by the client according to their budget.
