EMERALD CUT diamonds

Emerald Cut

An interesting shape that made it number  3 on my list as you know I love square and rectangle shapes and what makes this shape diverse is its pavilion, which is cut with rectangular facets to create a unique optical appearance. Due to its larger, open table, this shape highlights the clarity of a diamond. If you choose an emerald-cut with a lower clarity grade, such as SI, be sure to review the clarity plot on the diamond certificate. Also, emerald-cut diamonds can vary greatly in how rectangular they are. If you'd prefer an emerald cut with a squared outline, look for an Asscher-cut diamond. To find the shape of emerald you want, look for the length-to-width ratio.

And to finish with here's a very particular ring from designer Jessica Fields available here:

Diamond shapes part II

Princess cut DIAMOND

Oh my! the princess cut. I had a crush on it as I am a square shape lover but then find in out about the superior shine from the round made it second on my list.

A popular non-round diamond. Its beautiful brilliance and unique cut makes it a favourite for engagement rings. The princess has pointed corners and is traditionally square in shape. When choosing a colour grade, consider that while the price of a J-colour non-round diamond is exceptional, colour may be slightly visible in its corners. Also, princess-cut diamonds can vary greatly in how square or rectangular they are. To find the dimension of princess you want, look for the length-to-width ratio in our interactive diamond search and on each diamond's detail page. This will determine what the diamond will look like when viewing it from above. Here are length-to-width ratios for princess-cut diamond shapes that are pleasing to the eye.

Diamond Shapes

The diamond world it's very fascinating and tricky at the same time so I decided to give you a little bit of diamond education through out this month.

We start with the Round shape

The round brilliant cut diamond is by far the most popular and most researched diamond shape available today since gives the best top shine. For almost 100 years, diamond cutters have been using advanced theories of light behaviour and precise mathematical calculations to optimise the fire and brilliance in a round diamond. In addition to being the most popular and researched shape, a round diamond will typically give you more flexibility in terms of balancing cut, colour, and clarity grades while still getting the fire and brilliance you want.

And to finish a little tip the 4 C's

  • Color
  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Carat weight
For now let's talk about the colour

According to the GIA colour grading scale there are also 4 types:

  • colourless
  • near colourless
  • faint yellow
  • very light yellow
  • light yellow

Now start wondering what kind is yours?

Here is my favourite engagement ring from my collection and the diamonds are round shape. The quality is decided by the client according to their budget.

Octagon mono-earring with feather

Always following geometrical shapes and of course my love for nature and feathers, specially particular ones.
The colors they reflect on the light and the bird where they come from are very important to me when choosing them.
I don't buy them I just found them on my Godmother's farm then get inspired.
The octagon it's in burnished silver and hammered then to give a nice contrast to the cock feather I added the gorgeous big fresh water pearl.

you can buy it on boticca:

Dog Collar

Being an animal caring and lover I couldn't do less than coming up with this lovely dog collar.

Each of the accessories made for this dog collar were carefully designed.

Absolutely handmade, from the buckle to the name tag, even the links all in oxidized silver.

If you want to order you can have your dog name totally custom made to apply on the side of the collar and the phone number engraved on the back of the name tag.

I can give the option to have it in polished silver and not oxidized.

Leather available: black and purple

Not everyone dares to wear a mono earring. This one in particular can give you a very unique style.

Simplicity in lines, with different details that makes it more than stylish.

The front square it's textured with a florentine technique that makes the metal seem velvet then oxidised on the sides and the back polished very well.

The little rectangles on the bottom hold a long silver oxidized chain with a gorgeous pink pearl.

Men can be really sweet when they want!

I wanted to share the way one of my male clients gave a heart bracelet to a friend as a birthday present. I was delighted with the fact that he wanted to give the heart bracelet in a really special way. It's so important the love that we put into giving things. He not only made feel special his friend but me as well being creative on the packaging!

March just started! Waiting for a wonderful blooming spring!

Curious winter "Gold" story

You all will ask yourself: What does a bird has to do with gold?

So it happens that Aristotle described the migration of cranes in The History of Animals, adding an account of their fights with Pygmies as they wintered near the source of the Nile. He describes as untruthful an account that the crane carries a touchstone inside it that can be used to test for gold when vomited up. (This second story is not altogether implausible, as cranes might ingest appropriate gizzard stones in one locality and regurgitate them in a region where such stone is otherwise scarce)

True or not?

I wanted to share the story and the beauty and powerful appereance of the crane bird that I might take in the future for jewelry inspiration.

A Glance to Jewelry making

I wanted to give a glance of what is the process of jewelry making and how fascinating and intersting can be
more than selling or buying it.

I give all my love and passion making jewelry and so my first post of the year is dedicated to Jewelry making.
